What Job would you like at Walt Disney World.

I was wondering today what job I would like at WDW. I decided that almost anything would do, well apart from cleaning things, like toilets, cooking things, like burgers. I thought of security, but too much standing in the heat. I guess my ideal job would be being a character. I'm six foot one though, so that rules out Peter Pan, Donald Duck or even the Big Cheese himself. So I've decided that the ideal job for me, would be........ Baloo.

The original Disney Diaries Vol 1 -half price this weekend.

Japan Trip starting to form.

Robin is working very hard on getting the trip together, she has booked some of the hotels and bought a few language apps for our ipod/phones. She is going to get a full language program system, but is not sure which is the best, so if any of you have learnt this way, we would love to hear what you found best.  We are going to go to Kyoto as well as Tokyo, I'm looking forward to the Bullet-train rides almost as much as our four days at Disney.  Anyway watch this space and I'll keep updating as the trip countsdown to next May.

Wow It's a busy day.

It's going to be a busy Easter folks. At around 11am this morning Disney started to restrict the entry to the Magic Kindom to annual pass holders, Disney hotel guests and people with meal reservations. Easter is a busy time, but it's early this year and occuring at the same time as the tail end of Spring Break.  So if you are visiting this week or next, then get to the park early and use as many Fastpasses as you can.

Cheers Larry.

Iron Man 3 Monorail to debut in very near future.

The Black Monorail has had a makeover, it's going to  be promoting the new Iron Man 3 movie. In principle I don't have a problem with this, as I quite liked the Tron Monorail a couple of years ago. I kept being excited when I saw it.  I wouldn't want all of them to be "themed" though, because in reality it's really a 200ft advertisment.  Do you love the idea or hate it?

Lion King Rumour.

There is an interesting rumour that the Lion King is going to get a new pavilion in Africa and work is about to start.

I'm glad that the plan for Avatar Land is not going to kill off the Festival of the Lion King it's one of my favorite shows.  I'm pretty fond of the Birdy Woman, but I try to keep it a secret.  It's also great that things are starting to happen now. Not everyone is thrilled with the prospect of Avatar Land but I think it has possibilities for some great visuals and Disney are excellent at atmosphere and visual elements.

You can read about the rumour here.

More About Japan.

Hi Folks,

We have thought some more about our trip to Japan, Robin is working really hard on this, the plan is go for around 10 days, spend a third at Disneyland/Disney Sea, probably at the Miracosta Hotel. Then spend a third or so in Tokyo, do the temples, shopping and anime museum. Finally take some time to visit Koyto on the Bullet Train, I've always wanted to do that since I was a youngster, did I tell you I lived in a railway station for nine years?  We want to stay in the traditional hotel for one night and also one of the compartment hotels.  Obviously we just want to go their for research for our books, it probably will be all hard work and no fun at all.  (Yer right!!!).

So that's the plan, if anyone else has been to Tokyo Disneyland, we would love to read your comments.

Cheers Larry.

How to save up to 9% off a Disney Trip.

There is one way that you can save money on a trip to your favourite Disney park.   It takes a bit of effort on your part but it's easy.effective and perfectly legal.

You may know that Target in the USA have a in store card, called the Red Card.  And this can be linked to either a debit or credit card. When you shop with this you get a 5 per cent discount.  If you buy 5 prescription items over time with the Red card, you get a voucher about two weeks after you have bought item no 5 from the pharmacy.  This allows you a discount of a further 5% on top of the original 5%, which means you save around 9%.  Not 10% due to the initial deduction reducing the balance the second deduction is based on. ( I was never good at maths - please forgive the British spelling, I'm from over the pond.)

Now the bit you might not know is as well as being used to buy a toaster or a blue bathroom towel etc you can also buy up to 5 various kinds of gift cards and get the second discount.  And one of the gift cards you can get is from Disney.  You can redeem them in the parks, or you can ring the resevation system, give them the numbers and use it to pay off on Disney run hotel charges, ticket purchases etc. You can also use them at

One other great thing is that you can use the second 5% voucher all day on the day it is activated. So you can go back and buy another five cards later, or go to another store.

We used this earlier this year on our trip to WDW and made a pretty good saving.  Mind you I'm falling to bits and have to buy lots of medication, so it was easy for us to get the second discount, cough cough!!

I thought I would kick of the blog by telling you what my favourite ride is.  Tower of Terror, ok you guessed it from the photo above, well done.

Why do I like it so much, well it's probably not the throwing you up and down that does it for me, though I don't mind that. Unless of course I've just eaten a Turkey Leg.  No it's the atmosphere, the ride just oozes it out. I love the music, the gardens, the lobby for building up the tension, in a way I've never seen on any other ride.  You are just so ready for the drops, by the time you've manouvered your way to the ride shaft.  So clever and so much fun, I just love it.

Cheers Larry.

Welcome to Larry and Robin's Disney Diaries.  We are the authors of two volumes of  the Disney Diaries, which are available for sale on Kindle, but we're not intending to use this blog for marketing- well not too much anyway.  That's because we eat, sleep and drink Disney. We know Disneyland, Disneyworld and Disneyland Paris like the back of our four hands.  So we are hoping that we can make friends with those who love Disney like us and those who might be new to the "world" and would like information and advice.  If you go and read out books too then that's a bonus.

Anyway, Welcome and please come back often. We are going to update it as much as we can.  We welcome comments or suggestions for things that you would like to read about.  Join In we want this to be a lively place. (Just remember it's Disney pixie dust land and youngsters will be reading.)

Have a great DISNEY DAY.
